“OMG this past weekend we decided to add this to our weekend Halloween festivities. Oddly enough as an artist myself, I have not taken time to check out the local art museum since moving back to my hometown March of 2021. Rest assured we will be getting a membership and this will be a regular activity or destination for us going forward. The staff was as friendly as anyone could wish for. The art was absolutely breathtaking. I am so excited we decided to go to this event! Winning!”

Opening Reception: The Home I never Knew - Ni de Aqui, Ni de Alla
GMoA is thrilled to host The Home I Never Knew: Ni de Aquí, Ni de Allá. Guest curated by Flor Herrera-Picasso, co-founder of Casa Azul de Wilson, this exhibition brings together a wide range of Latino/a/x perspectives, traditions, cultures, and media. Emphasizing the idea of “ni de aquí, ni de allá,” or “not from here, nor from there,” the 24 participating artists’ work speaks to the diversity of experiences and identities among Latino/a/x communities associated with being both from the United States and from their Latin countries of origin.
Please join us at the opening reception on Friday, June 7th from 5:00 - 8:00pm for refreshments and a chance to meet the artists. The reception is part of the Downtown Greenville First Friday ArtWalk. More information about the ArtWalk is listed below!* This exhibition will be on display from June 7 - November 1, 2024. Stay tuned for more exhibition-related programs and events.
THANK YOU TO OUR EXHIBITION PARTNERS:
Casa Azul de Wilson, the Ledonia Wright Cultural Center at East Carolina University, the Association of Mexicans in North Carolina (AMEXCAN), and Castillo Language Services.
This exhibition is made possible with support from the North Carolina Humanities Council.
*The Downtown Greenville First Friday ArtWalk is a monthly community event from September - June. Located in the Downtown Greenville District, various arts venues and local businesses, companies, organizations, and restaurants open their doors between 5:00 - 8:00pm to encourage foot traffic. Museums and galleries often have special exhibitions and programs scheduled during this time, while other businesses offer special discounts, promotions, performances, and more! If the weather permits, visitors to the Downtown District are welcome to walk to all their favorite stops on the ArtWalk map! Visitors are always encouraged to hitch FREE rides on the Emerald Express Trolley. The Trolley circulates through its usual route for approximately 10 - 20 minutes to let new visitors on while others return to their next ArtWalk stops. Onsite and street parking is often available at most locations!
